This is a draft. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer yet and is published here so it can be. Ask us anything about it at legal@sowing.me.
These terms cover Sowing.me, a platform where Christian creators publish work and supporters pay to support it. Sowing.me is operated by Kingdom Impact Technology Group ("we", "us"). Using the platform means accepting these terms.
1. Accounts
- You need an account to support a creator or to publish. You must confirm your email address before you can sign in, and you must be old enough to hold a payment card in your country — and in any case at least 18 — to pay for anything here.
- Keep your password to yourself. Tell us if you think someone else has it.
- One person or organisation, one account. Do not impersonate anyone.
- You can close your account at any time by writing to the address at the end. What happens to your data when you do is in the Privacy Policy.
2. What creators publish
- Your work stays yours. Publishing here grants us only the permission we need to run the platform: to store your work, show it to the people entitled to see it, and make the copies needed to do that (for example a smaller version of an image). We do not sell your work, license it to anyone, or use it to train models.
- You are responsible for what you publish, including having the right to publish it.
- Everything you publish is subject to the Content Policy, which is part of these terms.
- Set your own prices. You decide your tiers, what they include, and what is free.
3. Paying, and being paid
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details go to Stripe and are never received or stored by Sowing.me. Stripe's own terms apply to the payment itself.
- Memberships renew at the interval shown when you join, at the price shown, until cancelled. Cancel any time: you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for, and are not charged again.
- One-off giving — a tip, gift or tithe — is a single payment, not a subscription.
- Our commission is 10% of what a supporter pays for a membership or a tip. Gifts and tithes carry no commission: the creator receives the full amount, and we absorb the processing cost. We will give at least 30 days' notice before changing the commission, and a change never applies to payments already taken.
- Refunds. Ask us within 30 days and we will refund a payment in full. Beyond that, a refund is at the creator's and our discretion. A refunded payment is removed from the creator's earnings.
- Chargebacks. If a supporter disputes a payment with their bank and the dispute succeeds, the disputed amount is taken back from the creator's earnings; we absorb the bank's dispute fee rather than passing it on. If the dispute is resolved in the creator's favour, the amount is returned to them.
- Payouts to creators are not running yet. During this period creators can earn and see their balance, and we hold those funds for them. This section will be replaced with the payout terms before the first payout is made, and we will tell creators before that happens.
- Taxes are yours to handle. We do not give tax advice, and a payment here is not automatically a charitable donation — see the Content Policy on saying what you are.
4. What we may do
- We may remove content or suspend a page under the Content Policy. We will say what rule was broken and which content it was, and you can appeal to a person.
- We may suspend an account for payment fraud, for attacks on the platform, or where the law requires it.
- Suspension does not delete a creator's earnings. What they have earned remains theirs.
- We may change the platform. If a change removes something you are paying for, you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of the period.
5. What we do not promise
The platform is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we do not promise any particular level of income, audience or reach to a creator. To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid or received through the platform in the three months before the claim.
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
6. Changes to these terms
We will post changes here and update the date at the top. For a change that materially affects you — pricing, commission, or how money moves — we will give at least 30 days' notice by email. Using the platform after a change means accepting it.
7. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of [STATE / COUNTRY — for counsel], and disputes go to the courts of [VENUE — for counsel]. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stands.
Write to us first. Most things are faster to fix than to argue about.
